A 25-member Odisha squad bagged a total of five medals in the 25th National Junior Inter-Zonal Athletics Championship, which was held at Maharaja College Stadium in Kochi (Kerala) from September 22 to 24. The medals included two silver and three bronze.
Rajeswari Bhoi, a trainee of SAI Training Centre, Sundargard, was most successful among the lot, bagging one silver in girls-18 heptathlon with 4366 points and one bronze in 100m hurdles with a timing of 14.98 seconds.
Sekunta Kulu, a trainee of Bhubaneswar Sports Hostel, secured one silver in girls-18 long jump with an effort of 5.47 metres. Bikram Murmu of Bhubaneswar Sports Hostel picked up a bronze in boys-14 100m sprint, clocking 11.76 seconds, while Karmi Singh, also of Bhubaneswar Sports Hostel, pocked one bronze in girls-14 triathlon with 1453 points.
